The late Randy Allen F5 Custom Mandolin built January 29, 1994, for auction to the highest bidder.  Cecelia asked me to auction off his instruments.  This mandolin has my serial number 11I7M which means it was the 11th instrument and 7th mandolin that I built.  The story behind this mandolin is that Randy had a double lung transplant.  While he was still in the hospital recovering, he promised himself he would buy one of my mandolins if he survived.  I’m happy to say that not only did he survive, but he and Cecelia lived together another 25 years.  According to Cecelia he loved the mandolin.   NOTE: The neck on this mandolin is a bit larger than the average commercial neck.  It’s NOT huge, but a bit larger than most. I would be willing to reduce the neck size if the new buyer would prefer a smaller neck.  I will not charge for this service but, I also will not put a finish on the neck.  Rather I will stain it to match and oil it.  Which is my preferred neck finish anyway.  They play faster and are more like a violin neck.  I would also be willing to remove the “decoration” frets and scallop the end of the fretboard if so desired, however I would charge for that service.
